Armpits, elbows, and knees tend to be darker when compared to other body parts. Most of us tend to avoid wearing sleeveless dresses because of this, and for fair skinned people, dark underarms is noticeable and embarrassing. Dark underarms are caused by certain factors. These include:
1. Spraying perfumes and the usage of deodorants directly on the underarms to prevent excessive sweating makes the skin darker.
2. Excessive shaving of the underarm hair.
3. Improper washing of the armpits.
4. Usage of hair removing creams for a long time.
5. Constant irritation because of tight outfits or friction-causing fabrics.
6. Dead skin collection.
Here are some home remedies for dark underarms:
• Mix gram flour, yogurt, lemon juice and a pinch of turmeric. Apply this mixture on your underarms for an hour.
• Make a mixture of lemon juice and cucumber juice in equal amount and add a pinch of turmeric powder. Apply this and leave for 20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.
• Rubbing lemon, cucumber, and potatoes on the underarm area is effective as these are bleaching agents.
• After a bath, apply baking soda to the underarms. Baking soda cures the darkness of underarms.
• Mix sandalwood powder and a few drops of rose water. Apply this paste to you underarms.
• Wax your underarms instead of shaving.
• Use an anti-fungal talcum powder instead of deodorants.
• Take care of your hygiene.
